An Evening Ride

I was able to get a short ride in tonight. It was rather nice riding at just about 70 degrees, although I do need to stop riding west while the sun is going down, as it can get difficult to see. I have decided that I rather enjoy using Map My Run to create these little maps of my motorcycle rides. Not only does it help me keep track of where I have ridden, but it also helps me keep track of miles that I have ridden. I have been thinking lately about getting a GPS system for the motorcycle for multiple reasons. One is that it would allow me to go on longer rides through more scenic back roads without having to worry about getting lost, and two, and this one is more recent, it will allow me to upload the GPS information to the site and create even more accurate maps. I really do enjoy seeing where I went. Perhaps I will start looking into the GPS and try to save for one for next season.

Gallery Update

I finally got around to adding some more pictures to Kylie’s gallery today. I even added some of the pictures from Jackie and Russell’s wedding, not all of them, just a few selected ones from the wedding that have Kylie in them. Eventually I hope to get a good portion of the wedding pictures up and added into the gallery, probably not all 500+ of them, but some. Enjoy what is up for now, it will be some time before I get to do the wedding pictures.

Slides and Motorcycle Rides

Today Kylie, Daddy and Melissa went over and played at the park. Kylie had lots of fun climbing on all the equipment and has finally decided to start going down slides again. A while back she had a bad experience when a slide ended up being to hot, and it gave her a little burn on the backs of her legs. Since then she has been very hesitant about going down slides, and honestly it was a little disheartening for me to see her be so weary of slides. Today, however, she had no problems going down one of the slides, and after she went down it the first time that was all she wanted to do. So she would slide down and then run around to the stairs and climb back up to go down again. Then we went and played on the swings for quit a while as well.

When we came home I parked next to my motorcycle and when Kylie got out of the truck she asked about it, and if she could touch it. I answered her questions and told her that of course she could touch it. Afterwords I asked her if she would like to sit on it with Daddy, and she said yes. So I sat on the motorcycle and picked her up and put her in front of me. She had lots of fun sitting there and looking at all of the forward controls. Then I picked up the kick stand and rolled the motorcycle back and forth with her on it. She really enjoyed the little ride, but wasn’t to fond of when I would slightly lean the bike to simulate a turn. She would say “No Dad, don’t do that,” and make me bring the motorcycle back to full upright. Melissa was nice enough to use her phone to take a couple of pictures of Kylie and I on the motorcycle together, too. Kylie really seemed to enjoy being on the motorcycle, and that gives me a lot of hope that when she gets older she will enjoy riding with me. Maybe when she gets older she will want to learn how to ride all by herself!

Chuck E. Cheese’s

Today I got to take Kylie and Mommy to Chuck E. Cheese’s thanks to winning a raffle. I have not been there in a very long time, but Kylie has been there recently and seems to enjoy it. As such I have been looking forward to going there since I won the raffle. We all had a lot of fun, watching Kylie run around and ride the little rides was great. She really seemed to enjoy putting the coins in the slots, sometimes more so than the rides or games themselves. At the end she had even more fun putting the tickets we had won into the “Ticket Muncher,” she insisted on putting them in one at a time and liked the “munching” sound that the machine made (this was Mommy’s favorite part too). It was a really fun time and a great couple of hours. I still need to find the time and a few extra dollars so I can go to Jungle Java with Kylie, as I know she enjoys that place as well and I have yet to be there.

Collections Updated

I finally got around to updating the collections page to reflect the new movies I have gotten and a couple of new books as well. I might be selling off my books soon though. As I have been kind of tight on money lately and I have not gone back and re-read any of them lately. I am sure I would keep a certain few. But for the most part I have been looking at a number of them lately and trying to determine if I would realistically re-read them or not. Those might be ones that are good candidates for selling. I will have to wait and see what happens and what I have the time for.

Kylie’s Voice Mails

A long time ago I mentioned that I had found a way to get voicemails off of my phone and save them. Ever since that time it had been my intention to find a way to edit those files and remove the unnecessary information (some of the automated systems comments and options) from the files in hopes of posting them so I would have a central place to listen to them. In addition to the memories each of these recordings provide for me, it is also a nice audio record of Kylie’s growth and development. I can hear her voice change over the course of the voice mails, and I can hear her vocabulary grow and improve as well.

Recently I found the software that I need to edit these files, and after editing them all, today I was able to upload them to the server and create a page for them. The page can be found off to the right in the navigation pane under the collections page and is listed as Voice Mails, or you can go to it directly by clicking here. I am lucky enough to have recordings going all the wat back to 2006. Hopefully I will add many more messages to this collection as she grows and continues to leave me messages when I am unable to answer my phone.

Another Motorcycle Ride

Got to go on a short ride again today, wish it could have been longer. But at least I got to ride!

Play-Doh Fun Time

Today Kylie came over and she brought her new Play-doh creativity center with her. She has had actually had this for a little while now, but has not had the room at Mommy’s house to play with it, so she asked if she could bring it to my house. Of course I said yes and when she came over we opened it up for the first time. This thing is amazingly fun! When we opened it and took the top off the table we found a bunch of containers of play-doh, and a lot of various play-doh toys. Like molds, cutters, forks and knives, all sorts of fun things to play with play-doh with. In addition the table itself has a bunch of half molds built right into the top of it! We only opened one bag of the various play-doh toys and we still had fun playing together for well over an hour before it was time to put it away for lunch. Kylie and Daddy are both looking forward to playing with play-doh together again real soon!

Motorcycle Ride

I got to go on a nice little motorcycle ride today. First one in quite a while. It was real nice to be able to go for a ride again. Unfortunately I can already feel the seasons starting to change, so it will soon be time to put it away for the season. I think I might have been able to put more miles on it this summer than I did last summer, but just barely and thanks in large part to a few long rides with some friends from work. Hopefully I will be able to get a few more rides in before I have to store it again. I think this year I may end up storing it at the dealership, that way before I take it out for the season I can have them perform the needed maintenance for me.  I still need to look into the cost of that though.

Here was today’s trip:

No, I do it myself

Tiffany got a very nice report from Kylie’s teacher today when she picked her up from daycare. Apparently Kylie is her class leader. She reads to groups of children and sings them songs and leads them in group play activities. She does it all on her own and when a teacher starts to sing or read with her she holds up her hand and says “no, I do it myself.” We are so proud of her and hope she continues to lead as she moves up into her new class the begining of next month.
