End of The 3 Day

Tiffany finished the Breast Cancer 3-Day this afternoon, and as I said we would be, Kylie and I were there to congratulate her when she crossed the finish line. Afterwards we gathered to watch the closing ceremonies, and I have to say I was very impressed. The number of people gathered was a lot more than I had anticipated, and this caused a lot of traffic when we were leaving. However, the ceremony was worth it. There was one part at the end where all the survivors who walked gathered in the middle on a raised platform, then all the walkers through their flowers up to them in a congratulatory salute and show of love and support. Words really can’t describe how touching it was. Kylie and I are really proud of Tiffany for all that she accomplished by participating in this event!

Wiard’s Country Fair

Today Kylie, Melissa, and I all went to Wiard’s Orchard for their Country Fair. Kylie was very excited about being able to pet and feed the goats and llamas that were there. Melissa and I took turns taking lots of pictures of Kylie and when I get them off of my camera I will be sure to get them up into the gallery. After we were done playing and feeding the animals we went over to the Country Store and bought some Apple Cider and Cider Doughnuts, which we ate outside on some picnic tables, Kylie really enjoyed this treat, as did we all. I also picked up some barbeque sauce and mustard made from apples, they just sounded too good to pass up. It was a lot of fun, and I will have to add it to my mental list of fall activities to share with my daughter.

Start of a Long Walk

Tiffany started the Breast Cancer 3-Day walk today. She called and said the first 20 miles were ok, but slightly brutal. Her feet hurt very badly and she has developed a number of blisters. She says the experience itself is amazing, the number of people who come up to them as they walk and thank them for what they are doing is very heart warming. Though she is afraid she has not trained enough to make the full 60 miles, she is determined to cross the finish line, and I have no doubt that she will succeed. When she crosses, Kylie and I will be there to congratulate her.

Another DR test done

I just got back from Philadelphia from another DR test for work. Spent three days out there this time and due to some changes made in our process I ended up having a bit of free time so Torrey, Chuck, and myself all walked down to the historic district and toured Independance Hall and saw the Liberty Bell as they had never been there before. We also stopped off and had lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe, someplace I had never been. Having a little “free” time to walk around Philly was nice, but afterwards it was back to work and dealing with all of the problems that arose. In the end it was a long three days and we got a lot accomplished and learned that our new NIM server set up works (when we don”t have network issues at the hosted site anyway) and that I configured our hardware encryption devices correctly.  Not that I doubted that, after all I was out there in June testing just that. Now I just have to wait a few weeks before I go back for the next test.

K-y-l-i-e

Today Kylie was in the car with Mommy and Grandam Jen going to the store, and during the course of the trip Grandma asked Kylie if she could spell her name. Kylie said yes she could, and then she spelled her name out without any hesitation or help. Mommy and Grandma were both taken aback as Kylie had never spelled her name out by herself before. Needless to say we are all very proud of her.
