A little over 5 years ago (February 4th 2011 to be exact) Kylie lost her first tooth. I can still remember pulling that first tooth out without her even realizing it, and how excited she was that the Tooth Fairy was going to come to Daddy’s house and visit her. Those days of excitement have sadly come to an end. I found out today that Kylie no longer believes in the Tooth Fairy. She told me that she was working on Mommy’s computer and found a typed letter that the Tooth Fairy had left for her on the computer. I not sure of the exact circumstances, it could be that the file was accidentally left open. Regardless, she saw it. This lead her to ask Neil if the Tooth Fairy was real. Knowing she was just on the computer he figured something was up, this wasn’t the first time she had asked any of us this question, but this time it seemed different. So he asked if she wanted the truth and Kylie said yes, so he told her. She was slightly upset but also liked that we had all done this for her. I knew this day was coming, but it doesn’t change the fact that I still feel a little sad. While we all want to witness our children grow, mature, learn, and be successful; it’s still sad when these large events take place as they are key indicators and turning points that parents can point to as specific moments in their child’s life when they took another step out of childhood and into the next phase of their growth. As she takes this step away from being a child and moves forward in her evolution into a young woman I take great comfort in knowing that no matter her age, she will always be my Little Bit.

There Goes the Fourth Tooth
Got an excited phone call from Kylie this morning. She was all excited to tell me she lost her fourth tooth this morning while brushing her teeth! We knew her tooth was loose but none of us thought it was loose enough to come out yet. This morning though while Kylie was brushing her tooth with her spinning head tooth brush, her tooth feel out and into the sink! She was very excited and called for Mommy to show her what had happened. At first Mommy wasn’t sure why Kylie was so excited and yelling. She told Kylie she needed to be a little quite because Aunt Sissy was still sleeping, but then Kylie was able to show her what was so exciting! Though Mommy said it was kind of concerning to see Kylie standing at the sink with her mouth bleeding, until she realized why she was bleeding. Then it was an exciting surprise.
Three Teeth Gone
Yet another completely awesome event occurred tonight! I got a text message about 8pm while I was at the hockey game (during one of the few seconds my phone actual got reception) from Tiffany saying Kylie lost her third tooth! This tooth is also on the bottom and is the second tooth on the right hand side from the middle. I don’t have a picture yet, but if Tiffany has one I will get it up as soon as I have it. It’s been a little over a year since she lost her first two teeth, and she already has a fourth one that is loose! Though I don’t think that one will come out as quickly after this one as the second one did after the first.
There Goes the Second Tooth
Kylie lost her second tooth this afternoon! It had been really loose all weekend long at Daddy’s house but Kylie would not let Daddy pull it out, she said she wanted it to come out at Mommy’s house. So today when I brought Kylie back to Mommy’s she convinced Kylie to let Daddy “wiggle it” and see if it would come out after Mommy tried and was not able to get it out. Daddy once again held on to the tooth with a napkin and gave it a gentle wiggle and it popped right out. Kylie was shocked that it came out and that she “really didn’t even feel it” (that’s how loose her tooth was) and is excited that the Tooth Fairy will again be visiting her, but this time at Mommy’s house. Now she has lost both of her front bottom teeth.
Kylie Lost Her First Tooth
It was really loose and Mommy had tried to pull it out but she said she couldn’t because it wasn’t ready yet. However, when Daddy came over to get Kylie for the weekend he looked at it and said that it was loose enough and Mommy just couldn’t get a good grip on it so he suggested that Mommy try holding the tooth with a napkin so it wouldn’t slip. Mommy tried that and still couldn’t get it, so she had Daddy try. After a little wiggle Daddy took his fingers out of Kylie’s mouth and Kylie said “See it just can’t come out yet.” Daddy smiled and so “Oh, really?” and unfolded the napkin to show Kylie that her tooth DID come out! Kylie was very surprised and really excited because that meant the Tooth Fairy would come to Daddy’s house!! Daddy asked Kylie if she wanted to go out to dinner to celebrate and she said “yes” and when asked where she wanted to go she said “Red Crabs” so off to Red Lobster we went. What a great day!
