Begining Ballet

Tonight was Kylie’s first ballet class and I was very happy that I was able to get out of work on time to go and watch her. She did a wonderful job and seems to really enjoy it. There are a total of five girls in her class and they all seemed to get along right away. They started right in on learning the positins and practicing them. The instructor is very friendly and the children listen to him follow his lead very well. I attempted to record the class on my phone and thought the video seemed to take just fine, when i got home it turns out the video is corrupt and so i don’t have any footage. i am very upset about this, but unfortunetly there is nothing I can do. Hopefully I will be able to attend more of her classes, and if I do I will attempt to get another video.

I really am losing weight

I got a very awsome surprise this morning, I can fit into smaller pants! For the last few weeks I have been losing weight and on a whim this morning I decided to try on a pair of dress pants for work that I have not been able to fit into for almost a year, and they actually fit. I don’t mean they fit because I sucked in and forced them on, they fit normally and comfortably enough that I actually wore them to work today. This, for me, is the best result so far of all my hard work to lose weight. I know the scale has been telling me (and hopefully it will continue to do so) that I am losing weight, but I have not been able to see. Not until this morning that is when I got into thse pants! I am so excited about this and so happy. It’s nice to finally have some tangable evidence that I can see to know that I am losing weight. This means that I should be able to fit into another pair that are still home in my closet, I will check on that later. Lets hope this weeks weigh in shows some more loss.

Happy Father’s Day!

This afternoon Melissa and I went down to Tiffany’s house to celebrate a number of things; Kylie’s Birthday, Father’s Day, and Aunt Sissy’s Birthday. We didn’t do anything big or have a lot of people over (mainly because no one has any money and we didn’t want to put anyone, or our selves, in any more financial hardships) and I think it was actually better this way. We all had a nice dinner and then went across the street to hit some baseballs and softballs around. Kylie did a great job hitting the balls that were pitched to her, and I also found out today that she can throw a frisbee very well! Daddy got hit by a couple of line drive balls (I was pitching) that I am sure are going to leave some nice bruises. One was from a ball that Mommy hit that hit my foot so hard you could actually see the laces from the ball on my foot. I guess that is what I get for being barefoot. After we played for a while we all went in and had a piece of a very yummy ice cream cake that Mimi made. Uncle Chris and Aunt Melissa showed up for this and then had to leave shortly after. It was a very nice day and everyone seemed to have a lot of fun.

You’re Four Already?!?!

Happy 4th Birthday Kylie!

Four years ago today you brought a whole new level of love in to our lives. The love of a parent for their child. This love has no bounds, no restrictions and has no limits. Just as the joy and happiness you bring to Mommy and Daddy everyday has no end. Watching you grow, learn and explore is fascinating beyond words. Everyday with you is a new experience and another blessing.

Here are just a couple of highlights from this past year in reverse chronological order:

We are so very proud of you and love you so very much! We can’t wait to see what you learn and accomplish this year!

An Awsome (Weight) Week

I just got back from my weekly weigh in, and man was I surprised! In a good way though. I wasn’t to sure I had done well last week, not sure why really. I knew on Saturday I had eaten a little more than I should have (Melissa and I went out to her parents house and hand dinner there), but otherwise I did pretty well. Never the less, I was still a little worried, but for no reason apparently! I am down 3.2 pounds for the week!! That’s a new personal best, and it brings my total weight loss up to 9 pounds! Man I hope I can keep this up!

My Riding Season Begins…Finally

I got the motorcycle back this morning from Nicholson’s. Everything looks great and the short ride that I was able to go on (just riding it back home) the new handle bars felt great. There is a huge difference now in how my hands and arms are positioned on the grips and so far it feels great!

That being said, the whole ordeal of getting the work done at Nicholson’s has left a very bad memory and I am not certain I will go back there for service again. The short version of a very long story is that they have had my motorcycle since March 21, 2009 and I am just getting it back today, almost three months later.

I had to go in and talk to the service manager (Warren) twice, the sales manager (he was supposedly the highest manager in the store the day I went) (Wayne) once, and the actual store manager (Brandon) once just to make sure my repairs got done. The store places a lot of blame on a single service department person that they recently terminated. While I am not sure if it really was all this persons fault or if he became a convieniant scape goat, the fact is that their service department was shoddy.

The overall work on the bike seems to have been done well once it was done, getting it done timely was a huge issue and a battle. During one of my meetings with the service manager I had to make sure the parts where there, and it was a good thing I did because the parts that the service department were supposed to order, they hadn’t. I have been told they are working on revamping the service department and getting more able technicians in to help fulfill work orders, so I guess I will just have to wait until the next time and see if I want to try them again or not.

On the other hand, there parts department was excellent! Ordering parts from them in the future should be no problem at all.

Another week, more loss

Just got down with this weeks meeting, and while the results aren’t as good as in the past nor as much as i wold have liked to see, I am still losing weight. From last week I am down another 0.4 pounds. This brings my total weight loss to 5.8 pounds. Some progress is better than no progress.

Star Spotting

Melissa and I went down into Ypsilanti tonight to listen to some free music at the Crossroads Music Festival and we ended up seeing a start! Michigan has been trying to bring in the film industry to help stimulate the state economy, especially with The Big 3 having such financial difficulties. They have been doing pretty good with it too, and tonight we got some first hand experience with it. While down in Ypsilanti listening to the music we saw that one of the side streets was blocked off to vehicle traffic, and down at the end we saw a bunch of people standing around. Being curious we decided to walk down and see what was going on. When we got down there we realized it was one of the locations, and at the moment the active set, for a new movie that is filming in the area. The movie is called Stone and tonight we got to watch a shot being filmed with a scene that Robert De Niro is in, and we got to catch a glimpse of him! Below are a couple of pictures that I snapped with my phone, one is of the set, and the other is of one of the production trucks. Clicking the images will bring you to the full size image file. The scene was at a party store called The Beer Cooler located at 22 S. Washington Street. I have to say, this was a pretty neat experience.

Our little Ballerina

2009-06-04_1707For a while now Kylie has said she wanted to join ballet, and today she finally got her wish. We needed to wait until she was old enough to join a class, find a class she could join, and find a way to fund it. All of those things came together today. Mommy found a class down river that she could join and Mimi said she would finance it. So that is what they did today. Kylie, Mommy and Mimi all went and got Kylie signed up for ballet; registered for the class, and purchased all the necessary garments. Kylie is super excited, and looks ready to dance! Her first class is going to be on June 23rd and I am hoping to be able to make it to see some of her classes.

They are going to be weekly at 4:30, but the problem is that they are an hour away from me, so even if I can get out of work early, I may not be able to make it down to the classes. I will try very hard to make it to at least one though, as i really want to be able to see her dance.

And now there is less of me

Just had my weekly weigh in, and this has been my best week yet! I am down 2 pounds this week for a total weight loss of 5.4 pounds! This puts me 1/6th of the way to my 10% goal of 29 pounds of weight loss. I am really excited about this and hope to keep the momentum going in this direction. I am clearly not expecting each week to be this good, but any weight loss is always better than any gain. Let’s hope next week is a loss also.
