That Might Be Worth Trying

I was just getting ready for bed and realized that I forgot to weigh myself yesterday morning, perhaps that was a good thing. I just weighed myself now and the results are not very good. At this moment I weigh 286 pounds. I have to admit I kind of expected that though as I have been eating take out a lot this past week. This is due to not having food at home for the most part and just simply craving things like pizza. I have also been craving Sushi a lot lately, though I have not been getting it. Ever since I found out that I like it I have been wanting to have more of it, I don’t know if it is just because it is something new or if it is really that good. LOL. Although if I were to start eating a lot of Sushi that may help with the weight gain issue too. Hrm…maybe I am on to something here….

Riding Season Ends

That was one of the coldest motorcycle rides I have ever taken! It’s 40 degrees out and raining, so it must have been a good time to bring the motorcycle over to Chuck’s house for the winter, as he is being so kind to let me keep it in his pole barn again this year. I think last year when I brought it to Chuck’s it was cold then too, I remember it was definitely raining harder, though it might have been a little warmer. It’s kind of sad though, because I hardly got to ride at all this season due to the weather and other things not allowing for the time. Even though it was a very cold ride, it was still nice to be back on the road. However, it had been so long since I last rode that I had to jump start it three times before it would stay running, that is the most I have ever had to jump it. Hopefully next season I will get to ride more than this season, but in reality any ride time is better than none.

Jungle Java Time

Kylie and I went to Jungle Java today so that Kylie could get some good play time in even though it is getting cold out. Although Kylie had been there before with Mommy, it was Daddy’s first time going and I have to say I was very impressed with the place. Jungle Java is basically a giant indoor playground with plenty of room for the parents to sit and read a book or drink coffee or just relax and watch the kids play. Parents can even climb through and play in the jungle if they want. I brought a book to sit and do some reading and watch Kylie play with all the other kids. We had eaten before we went there so we didn’t buy anything from the little cafe they had there, but perhaps next time we might go for lunch and for play time. I was a little surprised when I looked at the time and realized we had been there for 4 hours but Kylie had a blast and the time went by really quick. There was a continuous flux of kids there for her to play with (there were a few birthday parties going on) and at one point one of her classmates (Jeremiah) even showed up, so Kylie constantly had kids to play with. This alone is a big bonus over just going to the park because sometimes there are other kids there for her to play with and sometimes there are none; and she clearly enjoys herself more when there are other children to play with. It cost $6.50 for Kylie to play there (parents are free) with no limit on the amount of time she plays, and after 4 hours that comes out to $1.63 an hour. Let’s see, she is playing inside like she could play outside at the park if the weather were warmer, in a safe warm environment with other children to play with, which also has the availability of food, drink, and bathrooms; yeah I think that is worth the price. I am sure that we will try to go there again over the coming cold months, as it will sure beat staying at home and watching TV all the time; or the other limited indoor activities that we can do. Maybe next time I’ll even climb around the Jungle.

It continues

I guess I made up for not gaining any weight last week as today I weighed in at 283.4. I’m a little sad by this because I thought I was eating better this past week than I had been. I haven’t been getting as much exercise though, which is hard to believe that I could get any less, but with the colder weather coming I haven’t been, and don’t think I will be doing as much walking as I was. I am going to need to find a way to offset this and supplement it with something else. I have been saying it for a while now, but perhaps now I really need to get the Wii Fit back out.

Stalemate this week

No change this week, still weighing in at 279.4, and while some would consider this a defeat I do not. i would much rather maintain my weight (even this high weight) than gain a single pound. So I am going to mark this week as a win and move on and keep trying.

Does that even count?

Well any loss at this point is good I guess. This morning I weighed in at 279.4 and while it is only a loss of 0.2 pounds that is still certainly better than gaining it. The battle rages on…

Four Year Checkup

Kylie had her four year check up today, and she passed with flying colors! She weighed in at 44lbs and measuring 44 3/4 inches (3 feet 8 and 3/4 inches) tall, they even took her blood pressure this time (which I don’t remember them doing before) and that was 90/50, which we were told was very good. Seeing as this might be her last checkup prior to enrolling in school next year (holy cow that came up fast!) she had to get two shots today, with a plan on getting two more next year. Mommy had to leave the appointment early (read: before the shots) to go to work and was a little worried at how Kylie would take them, especially without her there. I am very proud to say that she took them without so much as batting an eye. She sat in Daddy’s lap with her arms crossed and took one in each arm. After the second one she looked at the nurse and said “That wasn’t bad” with a big smile on her face. Daddy was a little shocked and immensely proud of her, hopefully this is a sign that she will have Daddy’s pain tolerance. In addition to this she had her first eye exam, which I have to admit Daddy was a little nervous about, mainly because of how poor my vision is, but she also passed that without a problem. Hopefully she will continue to have good eyesight and good overall health.

Still bouncing along

And the downhill slide continues as I weighed in at 279.6 this morning. The lack of activity is definitely hurting my progress. I guess that doesn’t bode well with the winter months creeping around the corner.I will just have to keep trying and see what next week brings.

Six month dental appointment

Went to the dentist for my six month cleaning today, and at one point I had to laugh while the doctor had the tools in my mouth. He asked me if I had been having issues or pain in my jaw lately, like when chewing. I told him that sometimes my jaw does hurt but that it was more like the muscles of my jaw were tired sore. He nodded and said he figured as much, as it is obvious to him that I have begun grinding my teeth at night. This is one symptom/cause of Temporomandibular Disorder (TMD), that’s not what made me laugh, I then asked him what could have caused this to which he replied “One of the best sources that we have the most physical evidence for is stress. Have you had an increase in stress in your life lately?”, that is what made me laugh. The office is going to see if my insurance will cover a bite splint to wear while sleeping and to help prevent me from grinding my teeth and clenching my jaw.

First Time in The Big House

Today was one of my vendor’s (EMC) annual University of Michigan tailgate party! Last year was the first time I was able to go and it was a blast, so I had been looking forward to this years as well. The excitement and anticipation was heightened a few days back when i found out that not only was I going to the tailgate, but the vendor was also supplying me with tickets to the UM vs Notre Dame football game! I had never been in the Big House (U of M football stadium) even though I have been past it many many times. The party prior to going to the game was fun, as it was last year, but when Melissa and I got to go into the Big House, that was an experience. From the outside you don’t realize just how big the stadium is because half of it is under ground. We walked into the stadium from ground level and entered about half way up the seats. We had to go up a little further to get to our seats (which the tickets said were $65 each) and were impressed with the view. We were seated in section 16 row 87 seats 9 and 10, which were at the south west end of the field and we had a great overview of the entire field. The seats themselves were hard bench seats that wreaked havoc on my back, though I did spend a good amount of time on my feet as well. All in all it was a great experience, but I can honestly say that, even if I were an avid college football fan, I am not sure I would want to repeat it that often.

That being said, it was great to be at this particular game which many have said became an Tate Forcierinstant classic due to the way Michigan came back in the final seconds of the fourth quarter to win the game via a Tate Forcier (the 19 year old Freshman starting quarterback!) touchdown pass that let the Michigan Wolverines beat the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 38-34. It was certainty an exciting game to see for my first ever visit to The Big House!
