Today Kylie went with Mommy to Macy’s, where Mommy works, and visited Staci, who is head of security. Staci is very found of Kylie and often lets her go into the security office to play and hang out, and today was one of those days. Today Kylie was playing with the computer that controls the security cameras for the store. At this particular moment the cameras on the screen where displaying the floor in the womens department, and Kylie was busy turning the cameras around and looking out on the sales floor. After a few minutes of playing and looking Kylie turned to Staci and said “Where are the boys?” Mommy and Staci laughed and then Staci changed the cameras to look out on the selling floor in the men’s department and when the screens changed Kylie looked at the monitors and said “Oh, there they are. I found them.” Mommy said it was very cute and her and Staci found it quit funny.

June Twentieth
Today Kylie and Mimi had a chance to spend some quality time together and during that time Mimi was able to teach Kylie when her birthday is. Now when Kylie is asked when her birthday is she replies “June twentieth.” When she first got it Mommy called Daddy right away so I could hear her say it as well. Now Kylie can recite her full name, first and last, and her birthday, and she also knows how old she is. We think the next thing we are going to try to get her to know, remember, and be able to recite is Mommy and Daddy’s cell phone numbers. I still find it amazing as to how fast she picks up on things and remembers them. We are so proud of her.
A Day Sans Diapers
Today was Kylie’s first diaper free day! This morning she told Mommy that she didn’t want to wear a diaper, and she wanted to wear big girl underwear. So Mommy told her that she could wear only her big girl underwear, but she would have to tell Mommy when she had to potty, so we didn’t get our underwear dirty. Kylie said “okay” and Mommy let her pick out what underwear she wanted to wear and the day began. Twice during the morning Kylie told Mommy she had to use the potty and both times her underwear was clean and dry when they went to the bathroom, and both times Kylie went pee on the toilet. She did wear a diaper during nap time, and when she woke up she told Mommy “need to go potty,” and even though her diaper was wet she still went potty. After that she went without a diaper for the rest of the day and didn’t have any accidents at all!
New Pictures
New pictures are up in the gallery. At this point I think I now have every picture I currently have of Kylie up, more accurately all the ones that I have dates for are up. This includes pictures going back into last year and prior. There are still some more pictures that I am trying to track down dates for, and I am certain there will be more pictures in the future. But for now, I think I finally caught up.
Reading from Memory
I picked up Kylie from day care today, and as usual I asked her the normal questions and we chatted out to my truck. As we began to drive home to we continued to chat back and forth, her telling me about her day and I listening and asking questions. After a few moments lull in the banter Kylie began chatting again, and although I could not understand all of her words, a few started to stand out, and I slowly began to decipher the rest of her banter. Kylie was “reading” a book to me, more accurately she was reciting a book to me. That book was Goodnight Moon, a book that I often read to her at night before bedtime. She was saying “goodnight moon, goodnight room” and a few other lines from the book. This isn’t the first time she has recited books, or even read books along with me, but this is the first time she has recited this particular book. It is amazing how accurate her memory is and how clear her speech is. Watching her grow and develop is truly amazing.
Floater
Aunt Courtney was giving Kylie a bath tonight when she noticed something odd. After clearing away soap bubbles from around Kylie and doing a little investigating Aunt Courtney’s reaction was “Eew, Kylie what is that?” To which Kylie replied “I dunno” with a sheepish grin. Aunt Courtney had discovered that Kylie had gone poop during her bath. “Kylie, did you go poo-poo in your bath?” she asked, and Kylie replied “yeah” with a grin. So Aunt Courtney cleaned out the one piece of poop and put Kylie on the potty to see she had to go any more. She did go pee, but there was no more poop to follow. Mommy thinks this is the first time that Kylie has had an incident in the bath tub, and thinks it is humorous that it happened to Aunt Courtney. Maybe it’s time to look back into potty training…?

Another ear infection
We brought Kylie to the Dr.’s this morning as she has been running a slight fever since yesterday. That in and of itself is not the reason that made us decide to take her to the Dr. as she has also bee fighting a lingering cold from her bout of croup. The final reason that we decided to bring her to the Dr. is that Tiffany suspected the ear infection because Kylie complained when Tiffany tried to take her temperature. Tiffany has a thermometer that goes in the ear and normally Kylie handles this without any issue, but this morning when Tiffany tried to take her temperature Kylie said “ouch” and told Mommy that her ear hurt, so we brought her into the Dr. and sure enough her right ear is infected and has a small blister on the ear drum. We have gotten some medicine that will help with both the lingering cough and her ear, and with any luck she will feel better in a few days.
Papa’s Birthday
Today was Papa’s birthday, and so Kylie, Mommy, Daddy, Mimi, Aunt Sissy, and Grandma all went to Papa’s work and played a trick on him. Considering today is Halloween and Papa’s birthday Kylie filled up Papa’s truck with balloons and then helped everyone wrap Papa’s truck with black yarn, making a big spider’s web on it, we then placed various sized fake spiders all over it. We then called Papa and told him to meet us outside because we were all going out to lunch for his birthday, and we hid so he couldn’t see us. When he came out we all jumped out and said Happy Birthday. Later, when Papa was ready to leave work, it took him 45 minutes to get into his truck! Pictures of Kylie filling up Papa’s truck can be viewed here.
Zoo Boo
Tonight Tiffany, Kylie, Taylor, Erica, Aunt Sissy, and Daddy all went to the Detroit Zoo Boo, and considering we went last year we think this may become a yearly tradition until the girls are too old for it. Kylie dressed up as Tinkerbell and Taylor went as Snow White, Mommy, Aunt Sissy, and Erica all dressed up too and they can all be seen in the October Gallery for year 3.
