Well a few days after the sub-domain issue and I think everything is back up and running now. Thanks to my Mother I was informed that part of the gallery was not functioning (thanks Mom) and as such was able to fix that. So once again I think everything on the site is functioning normally.

Well, I think I have determined why eking.isfat.info no longer seems to work… I decided to look into the domain isfat.info (the domain I sub domain off of) and found some interesting information the first place I looked. And where was the first place I looked you ask? Well I decided to do a WHOIS lookup over at dnsstuff, a nice place I discovered when I still worked for VIA. Here is what I found:

Now this WHOIS look up tells us a lot of information, mainly who the registrant (owner of the domain) is and all sorts of neat things about him in relation to the domain. The part that is actually relevant here the following lines:

What this tells us is that the owner of this domain (Tyler Morgan) only has the rights to it through September 13, 2005 and that whomever the registrar (company the site is registered through) is has placed the the domain on hold pending deletion. So, what this means is that any data sent to or from the domain isfat.info (and all subdomains like mine) is not actually being processed through. Instead we get errors.

This just tends to me more towards the idea that maybe I need to get my own domain name. I am just not sure if I have the the few extra dollars a year lying around.

Well it appears that something odd is going on. I am not sure why, but it appears that my original sub-domain name of eking.isfat.info is no longer working. I have attempted to log into my free dns provider to check into it, but I can not seem to remember my log in information. So in the mean time I have created a new account with them and am now running off of eking.afraid.org. Perhaps it is time to seriously look into getting my own domain name? I know they are not all that exspensive any more, and there are plenty of places out their that will register a domain name. The hard part is really just coming up with a name that is not already taken. Perhaps i will start looking into possible domain names. Until then the new sub-domain name will have to do.

I have this tendancy to go out and stare at the Moon and the night sky, I have always been interested in the stars and think they are very beautiful and calming to look at. I find myself looking at the Moon pretty much nightly. I used to know all the phases and what order they went in, I knew when the full and new Moons would be, and I still try to catch every Lunar Eclipse. So when I stumbled upon a module that would display the current Moon phase, I knew i had to incorporate it into the site. So now, off to the right, is a nice little graphic that shows the Moon’s current phase, visually and as a percentage of full.

The site has been down for the last couple of days, not sure anyone even noticed. But anyway, it is back up now (thanks Chris!), and all is well. We are not exactly sure why it went down, but appreantly finishing the upgraded to the 2.6 kernel, that I started months ago, resolved the issue. So the 2.6 kernel is finally in. After bringing in the new kernel, I figured I might as well update some of the backend software as well. So now everything *should* be up to date and running smooth.

Just finished upgrading to the new 1.5.2 version of WordPress. As usual it was clean simple upgrade. Everything appears to be functioning normally. Wouldn’t expect anything less from the WP team though. This upgraded resolved a few bugs and security issues from previous versions. All in all I am still very happy with the software, both the quality and the ease of use.

So I finally got around to fixing RK and RK Stats. Well ok, in the end it really just turned out to be RK as RK stats was working fine. The stats for RK were not showing on the bottom of the page, which made me think it was RK Stats that was failing, when in reality it was RK itself. Now failing is actually the wrong term as I discovered. The real culprit was a missing php line. I don’t know why, but after not even thinking about it for like a month, the solution just came to me last night, and when I looked into it, it ended up being a 2 second fix. I guess it really wasn’t a big deal and thats why I never really looked into. Anyway, it’s fixed now.

Well I finally got around to adding the Collections page. Basically it is just my DVD and Book list. Took the links to those off of the main index page. I know have everything that i wanted to keep incorporated into the blog site. Not sure if I am going to move the blog over to the root or not yet. I will have to see how I feel about that as time goes on. As is the only link left up on the root is the link to the blog. I guess I will check logs and see if anyone still goes to the root page, which I doubt, and then decide if I want to migrate all the blog files and do away with the old root. On a side note I have an idea for a new theme, well a new modification of Kubric at least, based off the old root. Will have to see if I get around to doing it or not. Not that it would take much mind you, it is a real easy idea.

I have finally gotten around to adding the music / video links from the old site. There is now a “Pages” category off to the right, the link can be found there. i would not be surprised if more and more of the videos start to disapear as the place where I link them from periodically removes some of them. As is there are now significantly less than what I originally had. Who knows, maybe this page will eventually fade all together. In any event it is here now. I am also working on getting the Collections lists linked over as a page as well, so that will appear eventually. There may also be other pages added as I feel the need for them as time goes on…or not.

Upgraded to the new 1.5.1.3 version of WordPress, to adress the issues in 1.5.1.2. In addition I have also implemented a neat little plugin called “relative time.” As my reader may now notice not only is the time of the post shown, it also states just how long ago that was. The pluginis actually designed to just show the relative time, as in “Posted 1 hour ago” and such, but I liked the combination better. Any post over a month old will only give the date of the actual post. Not much else going on as far as site news goes, at least not for the blog. There are some other things going on, although slowly, with the non-blog site. My hope is still to eventually phase it out and only have the blog up. I just need to figure out how to incorporate certain aspects of the other site (ie – music) into the blog area. When that is acomplished it will be posted.
