Kylie caught a butterfly tonight as they were leaving diving/swimming practice. The picture was taken with a camera phone so it’s not the greatest, but this was the first time she tried to catch a butterfly, and she got it!

A Day At The Library
Today we decided to have a quite day, which means no use of the TV or anything that requires it. We have had days like this countless other times during which we play games, color, read, or go someplace. Today Kylie asked if we could go to the library, so that is what we did. We went over a browsed through the books and after finding a few Halloween books that interested her Kylie asked me to sit and read them to her, so we did that for a while. Then she asked if she could play in the children’s area with a few other kids, and of course I let her. While she played for a while I sat in a rather comfortable arm chair and read my book. After what seemed like a few moments I looked up to see a man walking in with a beautiful white dog that I knew Kylie knew from pre-school, so I went to get her. When she saw the dog she looked at me with a big grin and said “That’s Storm!” Storm is an assistance dog that has come to her pre-school on multiple occasions; and apparently he was at the library to meet with more people today. Kylie then went back to playing with some new friends she had made while Daddy read his book. It was a really fun and relaxing day and the time just flew by. By the time we left we had been there for slightly over 3 hours! I love my weekends with my daughter.
Where A Kid Can Be A Kid
Today I decided we were going to go have dinner at a special fun place that 
I knew Kylie would enjoy. As a surprise for her we went to Chuck-E-Cheese’s, and man did she have a blast! She was so excited and happy when we pulled up and she saw where we were. We went in and ordered our pizza and got a bunch of tokens, found a table that we could sit at and off we went to play games and have fun. Melissa and Daddy even played a few games too, mostly skee-ball to help get some more tickets for prizes. When all the tokens were finally spent and all the pizza eat and soda drank, Kylie was able to feed her tickets into the ticket muncher and go pick out a few small prizes. It was a very fun evening and we all had a great time, in fact, Kylie is already asking when we can go back! I forgot how fun this place can be, so maybe with winter approaching, we will be able to go back again. It will be nice to have this as a potential place we can go to in order to get out of the house.
Dresser Dashing
A few minutes ago Tiffany called me to tell me that Kylie tipped over her dresser, and it just missed falling on her. They were preparing to go out and Mommy told Kylie that she should go get her sweater because it was a little chilly out. Kylie said “ok” and went upstairs to get one. A few minutes later Mommy heard a loud crash and Kylie crying; Mommy had no idea she could get up the stairs so fast! When she got up there she found Kylie crawling out from under her dresser! What happened was Kylie went upstairs to her room to get a sweater to put on, but she decided that she did not want to wear the one that was already out. So she tried to get a different one. Her sweaters are in the top drawer of her dresser, but she can’t quit reach them, so she needed something to stand on so she could see inside her drawer. The closest thing at hand for her to stand on was the bottom drawer of her dresser. She pulled out the bottom drawer almost all the way, then pulled out the top drawer a little less and stood on the bottom to look in the top. This offset the weight of the entire dresser and pulled it towards her, falling over with her under it. Luckily her dresser was close to her bed and so it partially landed on that, making a little cave that Kylie had fell into. When Mommy got to the room Kylie was crawling out from this little cave and crying because she was so frightened. Thankfully she was not really hurt in this accident, all that happened was a scrape on her finger. However, she did learn a very valuable lesson and will not be standing on her dresser again any time soon.
Kindergarten Already
I can’t believe this day has come already, Kylie’s first day of kindergarten; before I know it she will be graduating and heading off to college. Today was only a half day, just so the kids could all get to know the lay of the school and where their room is, also to meet their classmates and teacher. It was great to see how excited Kylie was about going to school and meeting new friends. Mommy, Daddy, and Aunt Sissy all had a great time taking Kylie to school for her first day; Mommy and Sissy had fun remembering about when they went to elementary school at the same school. After school was over we all went out to Red Robin for lunch and ask Kylie about her first day. Kylie said she had lots of fun and met lots of new friends, she is already excited about going back tomorrow! Pictures from the morning are up and can be seen in the September 2010 gallery.
Four Days Later
I’m still in a lot of pain, not really sure how long it’s going to take for my back to calm back down this time, but the muscle relaxers Mom gave me seem to help some and my best friends is now officially my heating pad. I had to bring the trailer back to u-haul today though so I also went to Meijer and picked up some fabreze to spray the love-seat down with because it smells like smoke; guess that’s to be expected though, all things considered it’s not too bad. One day I am going to take Mom’s suggestion and go get an upholstery cleaner and give it a good cleaning. But that will definitely have to wait until my back is feeling a lot better, for now the fabreze will have to suffice. Now it’s time to get back to the heating pad.
First Pair of Glasses
Kylie got her first pair of glasses today, when she put them on she asked Mommy why the ground was all bumpy. The optometrist had warned Mommy that the curvature of the glasses might appear to distort things for a little while until her eyes adjusted to her new vision. Because of this she was trying to step over things that weren’t really there. However, after a few hours of wearing them, Mommy said she was no longer trying to step over things and she had adjusted very well. Kylie even asked to go to the library, which we take as a good sign. We think now that she can see better she will pick up reading a lot more quickly, both books and her sheet music.
Mommy Gets A Recap
Tiffany picked up Kylie about 9:30 this morning, and they were both very happy to see each other. Kylie told Mommy all about her trip to NY and seeing everyone, playing at the park with Tyler and then going to his house to play. She was so excited and happy with the trip, it was great to hear her talk so happily about it. She kept saying how fun it was and how much she wants to go back and see everyone again soon, hopefully we can all get together again soon.
After they left I spent a few hours on heating pads and then unloaded some more of the trailer, this time though I drove the trailer right up to the front door of the apartment, not sure why I didn’t think of that last night. Melissa came home from work and, after telling me how foolish I was for unloading the other items alone, we took the old couch out to the dumpster and brought the new love-seat in. On a side note Melissa was right, I definitely did not do my back any favors. More time on the heating pad and pain meds for me. -sigh-
And We’re Back
We were all up bright and early and back on the road by 6am today, it was a long drive made even longer due to my back. Seeing as I was going to be doing some of the driving I couldn’t take any of the muscle relaxers Mom gave me. Thankfully Melissa was able to do some driving and I was able to rest a bit and change my position to relax my back. Kylie, as usual, was completely great during the drive, she played with her Leapster and did other activities she brought with her. We made numerous stops to stretch out my back and get fuel and eat, we made it home about 7:30 though, so, we still made really good time. We unloaded the truck and took 3 bins out of the trailer, but that was all my back could handle for now so we will need to finish unloading the rest tomorrow.
An Extra Playdate
Today I needed to go pick up the U-haul trailer we need to bring everything back home, unfortunately the nearest one was up in Albany. So Kylie wouldn’t have to be bored during this errand (Nana, Melissa, and I were all going up to Albany) we dropped her off at Aunt Wendy’s so she could play with Tyler. When we came back they were playing outside in the yard and having a blast, I even tossed a couple of balls to each of them so they could take turns batting, and I must say both of them were great at it. Afterward we went back to Nana’s where Uncle Sonny and Cousin Alex were nice enough to load the love-seat Nana was giving us and my 6 tubs of stuff into the trailer for me so I wouldn’t have to worry about my back. It’s amazing how fast these couple of days went by, tomorrow is going to be a very long drive, especially for me.
