Category Hierarchy

I discovered a category hierarchy within wordpress today and after a few minutes of playing around with it I think I like the new set up. What will happen now is when ever a new post is created that I tag with Kylie or Ed it will automatically appear under the Family category even without me tagging it as such. This will have the effect of keeping the counts a little more true. For instance if the Family category shows 23 posts, then there are 23 posts tagged with Family, but not tagged with Ed or Kylie. However, if you view the Family category it will show those 23 posts and all the posts tagged with Ed and/or Kylie. The Family category acts as the parent category and contains, at this point, the Kylie and Ed categories. At current it is the only nested category but in the future I could see the possibility for others. Such as a Pictures category that would also fall under the Site Info category to easily review all posts of when pictures were added to the site, or perhaps an upgrade category under that same parent for when either the site software or hardware is modified. I guess only time will tell.

Pony Rides and Ice Cream

Today we went and visited Uncle Chris, Aunt Tracey, and Cousins Delaney and Madelyn. After visiting for a few minutes Madelyn had to go down for a nap, so she stayed with her grandma and the rest of all went for a day of fun. We walked through Elizabeth Park and over to an area where they were offering pony rides. Both the girls got to ride on their own pony next to each other, and they both seemed to have a fun time while riding them. Chris and I both took pictures and videos, in fact the video that Uncle Chris took can be viewed here. Eventually I will get all the pictures I took and any others I receive from Uncle Chris and Aunt Tracey up into the gallery. After the pony rides we played at Bishop Park and even had some ice cream at a nearby ice cream shop. It was a very nice day, and watching Kylie and Delaney running around the park and holding hands was simply adorable!

Shaving Update

Today is the one month mark of my change in shaving styles from a cartridge razor to the classic wet shaving style. I am very happy to report that I am happier with this change than I even thought I was going to be. Shaving is much more enjoyable now as with this change came the almost complete removal of all razor burn. There is this one spot on my neck that I used to get terrible razor burn on and that is almost completely non-existent now. Considering that each time I shave I have less and less of this old irritation I am pretty confident that within the next month this will be gone completely. In addition to this my Mother was able to send me her fathers old shaving brush that he used to shave with. This is very special to me, as my grandfather passed away a long time ago before I really got a good chance to know him. So having something of his that I use on a regular basis and will have for years to come is very nice. So not only has this simple change in shaving style brought me relief from some a slightly more than minor irritation, it has also had the very pleasant and unexpected side effect of bringing me closer to my grandfather.

Suppository Works

Tiffany was able to get a child suppository today, and though she was not looking forward to having to use it, it did work. After Tiffany brought it home, she sat down with Kylie and showed it to her, she then explained what it was, where it went, how Mommy was going to use it, and what it would do. She explained to Kylie that because she had not gone potty for a long time, that she now needed some help, and that this medicine would provide that help. All things considered she took the supposatory very well and only complained after it had been in for a few minutes. Thankfully that is all it took and shortly there after Kylie had her first bowel movement in four days. Afterwards Kylie said her tummy felt better and she seemed much more happy. We are going to put her back in diapers for a few days just in case she has any accidents and to allow her to “relax” a little. We are all happy that she is feeling better now and hope not to have ever use this medication ever again.

Constipation is a problem

For the past few days Kylie has presented us with an odd problem. Every few minutes she will say she needs to go potty, and seeing as we are working on our potty training, we gladly take her into the bathroom and place her on the toilet, happy she has told us she needs to go.  However, with the exception of a little pee, she does not go potty and even the pee is not an every time occurrence.  This process has been repeating itself for about 4 days now, and during these four days Kylie has not had a bowel movement. Thinking this is definitly more than long enough, Tiffany called the doctor and explained the situation. The doctor’s assumption is that the last time Kylie did have a bowel movement it was rough and hurt, as such Kylie has been withholding and now has caused herself to become overly constipated; their suggestion: a child supposatory. Because it is already pretty late for Kylie, Tiffany is going to try this tomorrow and hopefully it will give Kylie some relief.

Night Time Bathroom Break

We have been working very diligently to get Kylie fully potty trained and out of diapers. The process has been going fairly well and we are now going on a week with her only wearing diapers at night. Kylie has been very good at letting us know when she needs to go to the bathroom, and tonight was no exception, but rather a first. Every night we have Kylie go to the bathroom before she goes to bed each night, and then she puts on a diaper and goes to bed. Tonight was the same, but after being in bed for a little over an hour Kylie got up and called downstairs to Mommy. When she went upstairs Kylie said “I need to go potty,” and so Mommy took her into the bathroom, and much to our delight, Kylie went to the bathroom again. This is the first time Kylie has gotten up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, perhaps this is the first step in the next phase of her potty training.

A little virus

We took Kylie to the doctor today, she had a 104 fever. Upon examination the doctor found that Kylie’s throat was very red and irritated so they ran strep culture, which came back negative. This makes the doctor think it’s a virus of some sort. Unfortunetly this means there is nothing that can be given to help with remove it from her system. We will continue to give her Tylenol to help with the fever and try to have her take it easy for a little while. She should be fine in a few days.
