WOW! This is terrible! I weighed in at 279 this morning, a gain of almost 3 pounds! I need to start tracking what I am eating again because I have no idea what I ate this past week to have that kind of outcome. I know that what I am eating is an issue but the hard part is manipulating finances so I can afford to buy groceries especially proper groceries. My problems are clearly compounding, lack of funds to buy necessary groceries, lack of time for exercise, and no longer tracking my points are all catching up. I need to fix at least some of these issues.

Pittsfield Preserve
Recently I found out about the Pittsfield Preserve, which happens to be a few miles from my apartment. Today I finally got a chance to go walk through the trails and be out in nature. While it wasn’t exactly like being out in the woods, the paved trails did go through some nice wooded areas. There was also a few nice overlook areas that looked onto some nice little meadows. It was at one of these outlooks that this dragonfly came up and sat on a leaf in the sun next to me. The walk was nice and relaxing, hopefully I will get to find the time to come back out here again.
Down A Little
At least this week I am down a little. I weighed in at 276.6 this morning, which is a drop of 0.4 pounds. While not as good as I would have hoped any decline is better than a gain. I have been trying to walk at work with Chuck more often now, in fact most days we try to walk twice for just under 2 miles. While this is good I still need to find time to at least do Wii Fit at home and to try to find more ways to be active in general. There’s just so much going on that it is difficult to obtain. I’ll keep trying though…
Renaissance Festival
Today Kylie, Melissa, and I all went out to Holly MI to go to the Renaissance Festival that is held there annually. It was Kylie and mines second time going (though Kylie doesn’t remember her first time because she was only 2 months old) and Melissa’s first time, so we were all looking forward to going. Once we got there Kylie started looking around and commenting on all the people in different outfits and shops. She especially like the two people walking around in a giant knight and a giant horse costume. She was even more excited when she got to give them each a high five. Melissa and I really enjoyed looking around at all the shops, even though we couldn’t buy anything. We all enjoyed the jousting tournament and Kylie really enjoyed cheering for “our Blue Knight.” Melissa and I each took a good number of pictures, and hopefully I will get them added to the gallery sooner than later. We are all looking forward to going back next year as well.
Up Another Pound :(
Weighed in at 277 this morning, clearly not having the money to buy proper groceries (i.e. fruits and vegetables) is not helping my weight loss efforts. I try to walk at least one mile a day (normally on my lunch break) but I need to find a way to increase that so I can get more activity as well, it would also help if I could find time to start using the Wii Fit again. Time has always been an issue and i can see I am really going to have to find a way around this.
Weight Update
Well it’s Wednesday, which means it’s weigh in day. This morning I weighed in at 276, up 2.8 pounds from last week. The lack of going to meetings and having a group to talk to is really showing. While I think it would clearly be beneficial to join the next weight watchers at work meeting (starting some time in September) I still don’t think I will have the money (the current rumor is that it will be another 13 week session for $150). I still need to find the time to get more exercise, but how do you find more time in the day?
The Weekly Weigh In
I woke up this morning and headed to the scale for my first weigh in that would hopefully indicate that I am losing weight outside of my weight watchers group. After stepping on and closing my eyes for a second, I finally looked down to see that I weigh 273.2 pounds which is a drop of 1.8 pounds from last week. Not a bad way to start off my 31st birthday!
Close Encounters of the Squirrel Kind
Apparently the squirrels on EMU’s campus are very tame and used to people, as this little guy came right up and sniffed my hand. In fact, he was so close that I can tell you with certainty that squirrels have a wet nose, just like dogs. This was taken at this morning after I dropped Kylie off at day care.
Home Weigh ins Begin
Today was my first at home weigh in, so after my shower this morning I stepped onto my scale and was kind of shocked (in a good way) at the reading; 275 pounds. This will be my starting point for my at home weigh in going forward. Now this is a big difference from the weight watcher weigh in, but this is a different scale and seeing as I am at home I can wear much lighter (less) clothing than when I was at work, so this number may actually be closer to my true weight. I think I am going to set a 10 pound target for now, so my goal is going to be 265 pounds. Wish me luck.
Last official Weigh In
Today was my last Weight Watchers at Work meeting, i am really surprised at how fast the time went. Over the past weeks I have learned a lot about my eating habits and things that I need, nay WANT to change. I now eat more fruits and vegetables then ever before, not just quantity but variety as well. If nothing else this program opened my eyes and tastes to many new foods that I had not tried in the past, or tried and didn’t like but now do.
I mentioned last week that i would not be signing up for the next session and that still holds true. While they did lower the price because they are going to run a short special session (8 weeks for $88) I still simply do not have the extra money. I am going to take these next 8 weeks and see how I do on my own. Hopefully i can keep my motivation up to keep eating as best I can and hopefully increase the amount of exercise I get. Even if it is just getting out and going for a mile walk.
I think some of my motivation will need to be remembering how well I have done over these last weeks. According to the scale a few minutes ago I am down an additional 1.6 pounds this week bringing my total weight loss for the 15 week program to 12.2 pounds and my final weigh in weight to 282.8 pounds. I am very happy with this result and proud of what I have acomplished, while I know I still have a long way to go these results are encouraging. I really need to continue focusing on eating right and trying to get more exercise as i am still lacking in that area.
Next week I will begin weighing myself at home on my own scale. I know the numbers will be greatly different due to a number of factors. One reason is that they say each scale is true to itself. Another will be the environment and time. I am hoping to weigh myself wednesday mornings before getting dressed for work. They say you weigh the least in the morning. 🙂
